Liberty Me Dance Center's Mission
The arts provide children with a creative outlet to express themselves freely and openly. The LibertyMe Foundation will provide a space for the arts—for dance, music, creativity and self-expression. It will be a place where children can dream and where their dreams will be artistically realized.
LibertyMe will create a sense of community, a feeling that each individual belongs to a group of unique, diverse artists who all share the same passions. The community welcomes this program with open arms because it will not only challenge and inspire its youth, but it will serve as a vehicle to connect the to the greater world in which they live. All of the profits generated by the studio will be donated to various charities and the children will be an integral part of this process. This means they will understand that they are not only working hard to better themselves, but to make the world a better place as well. They will feel a sense of meaning and purpose; there is no greater gift a parent can give to their child.
To say that LibertyMe Foundation is unlike any other performing arts center in Philadelphia is an understatement. Every child will have a voice here and as they grow with LibertyMe, LibertyMe will grow with them.
The possibilities are endless…
About the Director, Meegan Rubin
Meegan Rubin, founder and creator of LibertyMe Dance Center, started her dance career at the early age of five and has never looked back. She studied at Focus on Dance with teachers Sherry Lebed Davis and Melody Embry. After 13 years of practice she was accepted into the Tisch School for Performing Arts at NYU, and then went on to continue her studies at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
The turning point in her dance career was joining the Koresh Dance Company in 1996, where she joined forces with Ronen Koresh. Serving as her inspirational mentor, Koresh helped Meegan harness her talent and understand the value of hard work and dedication. Ever since, Meegan’s main focus has been on creating unique choreography, catapulting her into a new realm of the dance world. She has won multiple awards for her choreography in several dance competitions such as Starpower, Starbound, and Expressions over the past 10 years.
In addition to being a talented dancer and an award-winning choreographer, Meegan is also a certified Pilates instructor. She began her training at NYU with the late Kathy Grant in 1993 and has been teaching and practicing ever since. Meegan believes the key to becoming a healthy, long-lasting dancer is through a combination of balance, proper body alignment, and the development of strong core muscles.
As she enters this next stage of her career as a studio owner, Meegan is excited to pass along her knowledge and passion for dance, along with her belief in teaching today’s youth the importance of altruism and community service. LibertyMe stands for everything Meegan’s life has been made up of to date: Power, Movement and Expression.”
